Gold Bullion
Gold coins, bars, and ingots minted solely for their gold content are referred to as Bullion. Bullion coins are available in various denominations and bars in varying weights from grams to kilos.
Bullion’s value is tied more closely to the spot price of gold on the stock exchange. This type of gold is known to experience more volatile fluctuations than other types of gold products eligible to be placed in an Independent Retirement Account. The spot price swings as the big banks, speculators and day traders buy and sell “paper” gold stocks hoping to realize short-term profits for themselves and their clients.
One perceived benefit to gold bullion is it allows investors and institutions to move more easily in and out of the market with the goal of changing short-term trading positions. This strategy can prove to create headaches when one possesses a short-term trading mentality when considering their long-term retirement assets.
A well balanced portfolio can consist of some gold bullion as part of a layered approach to diversifying your holdings. When used properly, a strategic allocation can be designed to compliment your holdings and achieve specific short-term goals.
Our knowledgeable precious metals team works closely with you to discover which type of bullion suits your needs, and what portion of your tangible asset portfolio should consist of gold bullion.
The most widely recognized types of bullion include such coins as the American Eagle, the Canadian Maple Leaf, the Austrian Vienna Philharmonic, and bars by well known minters – Johnson Matthey, Pamp Suisse, and Credit Suisse.
Proof Gold
Proof Gold coins are limited production bullion coins which undergo a specialized minting process. Due to their potential for growth beyond common bullion, Proof Gold American Eagle coins are highly sought after and are ideal to include in your Independent Retirement Account.
Every year only a limited number of proof coins are produced, creating a scarcity in the coin market. Since 1986, proof gold coins have been minted in limited quantities of approximately 300,000 coins per year. In 2008, as demand for gold bullion surged, gold blanks could not be spared for proof gold production and only 150,000 proof coins were struck and released. In the next year, production of Proof Gold Eagles was cancelled until more gold blanks were available in 2010.
Proof Gold American Eagles are universally recognized and sought after by investors, savers, and collectors alike. This combined demand in a thin market creates tremendous profit potential for those holding these proof gold coins.
Fractional Proof Gold American Eagle coins are produced in a one ounce, half ounce, quarter ounce, and tenth ounce piece. The four-piece proof gold set includes one of each size, for a total 1.85 troy ounces of gold. There is also a two-piece Proof Gold American Eagle set which includes a one ounce and a half ounce coin. The various denominations come encapsulated and individually packaged with a certificate of authenticity.
Gold IRA Testimonials:
Alliance Gold set up my Gold IRA and I also add to it every 6 months or so. The service is great and they make the process simple. I always get my metals placed professionally and get a great night sleep while my gold is safe and sound in my IRA. I plan to begin buying silver from them soon. Definitely recommend. – Joel M.
